The South Carolina Governor’s Commission on Women has selected Nancy Barton, Executive Director of Sistercare, as the 2011 recipient of the Woman of Achievement Award. This award recognizes and honors a woman whose work and life has made a significant impact on the quality of life for other women and all citizens of South Carolina. Barton was recognized Thursday, August 25 at the Statehouse lobby. She was chosen for her unconditional dedication, persistence and passion to Sistercare, a program that’s mission is to end violence so that women and children may live safe, productive and healthy lives. During her time in this role, Barton has built and branded Sistercare to what it is today—one of the most recognized organizations in South Carolina.
